Andrea & DimitRIOS × DESTINATION WEDDING
(Palace Bussaco Hotel, Bussaco, Portugal)
The story that inspired us:This nice young couple who live in the United States asked Makemyday to help them fulfil their dream of getting married in Portugal. Dimitri is Greek and Andrea comes from a Portuguese family, and they chose the Bussaco Palace for their wedding. Two years before the wedding, they were in Portugal and visited Bussaco. They were dazzled by the beauty of this region and secretly imagined themselves there on one of the happiest days of their lives. This was a very special wedding for us, full of genuine feeling and a lot of emotion. Read here the story of this lovely couple, told in the first person:
“So you know when your friends try to secretly set you up, and it turns into a terrible night? Well this time, it actually worked out well (thanks Hanna). In February 2011 we met, two weeks later was our first “official” date, and by the end of that night, we knew something wonderful was about to begin. By the end of April, we fell in love, and by July, we knew we’d spend forever together.
Fast forward to the summer of 2013, Dimitrios went to Portugal with Andrea, and spent a wonderful (yet crazy and hectic) two weeks in Anadia, Andrea’s hometown. After a few days of excitement… and a terrible sunburn for Dimitrios, we found ourselves in the peaceful forest of Bussaco. It was an incredible moment of love, happiness and appreciation of all the beauty in our lives.
A little less than a year later, Dimitrios proposed to Andrea on May 25, 2014 on a weekend trip to the charming city of Charleston, SC. He secretly arranged for a photographer to capture the joyous moment in front of an iconic 1,500 year old oak tree… and obviously SHE SAID YES!
Andrea always imagined getting married in Portugal (surprise, surprise) at the Igreja de S. Tiago where generations of her family have been married. Dimitrios remembered the incredible time we shared at Bussaco and thought it would be the perfect setting to celebrate our marriage. “
Items which we most enjoyed creating: The invitation. A genuine item that reveals the passion of both bride and groom for maps, and makes us relive the good times when words of love and friendship were exchanged on picture postcards. Each postcard refers to a location that marks Andrea and Dimitri’s path: Greece, Portugal, New York, Bussaco... Small cards full of emotion where the bride and groom wrote words of gratitude to those who watched them grow.
Moment to remember: The bride dancing with her father. An emotional moment, filled with love that we will remember forever.
